Rifkat J. Muhamedrahimov

Dr. Rifkat J. Muhamedrahimov received his PhD in Human Physiology from the Pavlov Institute of Physiology of the RAS, and his PhD in Developmental Psychology from the St. Petersburg State University, RF, and completed the infancy and early childhood mental health and development training and fellowship programs in Sweden, Great Britain and USA. Currently, Dr. Muhamedrahimov is the professor and head of the Department of Child and Parent Mental Health and Early Intervention, and of the Laboratory of Translational Sciences of Early Childhood at St. Petersburg State University, RF. He has authored or co-authored publications in the field of social-emotional development of children, caregiver-child interaction and attachment, and the effect of early experience on human development, as well as in early intervention for children in families and institutions. For the period of professional activity Dr. Muhamedrahimov was a head of the first in Russian early intervention program for at risk infants, scientific leader from Russian Federation side of the Russian-American longitudinal research projects on children in institutions and foster families funded by the NIH, and participated in programs aimed at improvements of institutions for orphan children in Russia, Bulgaria, Turkey, North Korea and Ukraine. He is a member of the RF Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Interagency Working Group on the organization of the early intervention system in RF, and of the Working Group on homeless and orphan children of the Committee on Family, Women and Youth Issues of the Gosudarstvennaya Duma (Parliament) of the Russian Federation, and the member of European Federation of Psychologists Associations Board of Prevention and Intervention.
